Feel Good Friday - My Blog Crush

I'd like to tell you about my blog crush.
The blog that I always look for and read first when I log into my dashboard.
It makes me feel good every single time I read it. Without fail. No matter what mood I'm in.
It's called Enjoying the Small Things and is written by Kelle Hampton.

She is a wife and mother. A mother of two beautiful little girls. Lainey and Nella.

Kelle has a gift for blogging.
She takes THE BEST photos and includes loads of them in every post, but her writing is what really draws you in.
She is open and honest and funny and shares her life and the loves of her life with us all.
Her writing style is really creative and lets you feel what she is feeling.

She loves her girls furiously.
She is very present for them and is determined to give them the best life and the best of her that she can.

Nella is the reason I smile and sometimes giggle when I see the amazing photos that Kelle takes of her family.
There is just something so very special about Nella.
She is magical.
Without knowing it or trying to, she brightens up so many peoples day.

She ALWAYS makes my day!
Look at her! How can you not fall in love with that little face?!

Then there's Lainey.
Sweet, adorable Lainey.

Do yourself a huge favour and spend some time reading through Kelle's blog.
You'll leave feeling really good!
You'll leave feeling inspired to live the best life you can live.
You'll leave wanting to love those around you furiously and selflessly.

Seriously. Just do it!

Blogger Bungle or User Error?

She's the cutest thing in the world to me!

I just want to let you all know that I'm having a bit of trouble leaving comments on some of your posts. Those of you who DON'T have a pop up window for comments are the blogs that Google won't let me comment on.
Now, if you would be so kind as to change your comment settings so that you have a pop up window AND not have that word verification on, then I'd be most obliged and you will be getting comments from me.

Why oh why did Blogger have to muck around with stuff?
It was all fine before they went and did some maintenance.

Maybe I should clear my browser and cookies.
Would that help my problem? (that's a loaded question if I ever saw one)

The Plan

I've decided to give The Miss K Way some sort of direction instead of just plodding along putting up posts willy nilly. Actually, I have been encouraged in the past to have theme posts on different days of the week, every week. I've thought about it long and hard and agree that it's a very good idea and it will help me to focus on my posting and, you, my dear reader will also know what sort of thing to expect of this blog.

A special thank you to Felicity of Gifts of Serendipity fame for her suggestions today, and in the past. You're a clever girl you are, Ms Felicity!

So, this is my plan.
Tuesdays will be the day for Teacups and Graffiti. If you have been following along with T&G then you will know that it's all about the photo. That will be my photography day. A day for showing off my rad photographic skilz. Ha!

Then on Fridays I will post about something that makes me feel good. For example, music, food, movies, whatever it is that week that makes me feel so good that I just absolutely have to share it with the world. I'm guessing there's going to be a lot of music posts, cos I love music!
I'm also hoping that whatever I post about on Friday's will make you feel good too.

This made me giggle when I saw it.

So I'll start off with just two posts a week for now. I do plan to make it three with a third day of posting about whatever. Maybe I'll make that one 'Whatever Wednesday'. We'll see...baby steps.

See you back here tomorrow so you can go into the weekend feeling good.

In Need of Advice/Suggestions

I'm in a bit of a bother over my blogs. I can't decide what to do.
I have this one, The Miss K Way, and also another one that started out as a photographic 365 project, but is now just another place for me to put up a photo when I get around to it. It's called Teacups and Graffiti.

Now, this is where I need some advice, some suggestions.
I don't want to continue with two blogs, so which one do I shut down? And then, do I continue with the current name that I have or start over with a new one as it will be like merging two blogs into one because whatever I blog about, there will always be photos involved?

Decisions, decisions. I can't decide and seeing as you've all been so helpful in the past, I thought I'd put it out there and see what comes back.

Hope you're enjoying this first day of June.

When Ms G Was Here

Ya'll know I love her.
Some of you know that we got to hang mid February.
I just came across this photo and thought I'd put it out there. After all, Ms G did mention our outings on her blog.
She's a Melbourne girl at heart. I just know it!
I just wish she'd move here.

Here we are, having a cuppa at the Camberwell Markets.
If you click here, you can see what Ms G has been up to lately.

She'd love to hear from you.

Just Be...

Remember this photo? Remember that I entered it into Farmgirl Paint's Thrive Project? Well guess what,
Becky picked my photo as one of the two winners! So exciting! She really loves this photo.

I recieved my prize in the mail this morning.
It's inside this very cute pouch and was accompanied by a very sweet note. I love the note Becky!

This is one side of Becky's business card. I love it so much that I'm going to frame it and put it on display.
It's very special to me. I have to admit that I have a blog crush on Farmgirl Paints. I read every single one of her posts and I love them all. I don't always comment, but when I do, she visits me right back and always leaves an encouraging comment. This girl has a big heart for God. Love it! Love her!

And this is what was inside that pouch.
A cuff, made by Becky. She has her own Etsy shop. You can see other cuffs and things that she makes. She's so creative. I love her paintings especially. I think those are commissioned though.

I love those two words. JUST BE.
Just be happy. Just be content. Just be in the moment. Just be kind. Just be thoughtful. Just be a good wife. Just be the best you.
There's so many ways to finish that sentance.

How would you finish that sentance? Let me know in the comments.

Thank you Becky for my 'words on a cuff'. I love it and will wear it with pride. I'm wearing it now.
Melbourne will love it!

Beautiful Beautiful

Just popping in quickly to let you know that I'm having some computer issues. It's fine by me, this week. I've been rather neglectful of my blogs and my blog reading as a result, but I think I really needed the break. There has been no pressure to put up photos, or take photos for that matter. No pressure to comment on other blog posts. I've found it all quite freeing actually. I had become so into the blog world that I HAD to be on the computer a lot, but since I got sick last week and then my pc crashed, well, lets just say that I feel content right now.

I do want to share one thing with you today. It's my latest favourite song. Francesca Battistelli's Beautiful Beautiful. You know, the sort of song that you just put on repeat cos you can't stop listening to it. I hope you listen to this song. It's beautiful. It really is.
If you go here you can read the lyrics while you listen to the song.

Mercy. Grace. Such awesome, powerful words.
From God, they are most powerful!

My Photography Blog

I have been inspired by The Clip Cafe who has a photography blog called Flower Photography. It's a 365 project blog. I wasn't aware that so many people do this, but it seems there are heaps of 365 project blogs out there. Anyway, I've started one today.

I've called it Teacups and Grafitti because I take photos of both those things and everything in between. Plus I think it's a really cool name. (Does saying cool show my age?)

I will post a different photo that I have taken, every day of the year.
I will challenge myself to get better and gain new photography skills.

Today is the first day for my new blog and it is also the 1st Birthday for communal global!

Happy Birthday Communal Global! I look forward to see what you have for us girls in the next 12 months.

Photo Fun

I was just looking through some of my photos and came across this one that I took in the Degraves laneway in Melbourne a few days before christmas.
I really like it and thought I'd share it.

Workers and shoppers pass in a hurry, seeking out somewhere to throw down some food in the restricted time they have, while a lone cellist plays the most beautiful music in not so beautiful surroundings.
Such a contrast in art forms.

I'm linking this to Becky at Farmgirl Paints who is doing a photography course at the moment and each Tuesday tells us about a new thing she has learned then asks us to link up a photo for her photo comp.
This week it's about thirds.

Catchya soon!

Versatility is the Key

Donna from Comin' Home passed on The Versatile Blogger award to me last week. This is the second award that dear Donna has given me in the past few months. (I think she likes my blog). I'd love to pass it right back to her, but she has already recieved it from someone else and I'm supposed to pass it on, not pass it back.

Thank you Donna!

As you well know, I must share some things about myself that you don't know. Hmmm, I only did that in the last post. Thinking...thinking...thinking...ok

1. I love wearing nail polish on my toenails in summer. I never wear it on my fingernails.

2. I learned to play the flute when I was 13. I can no longer remember how to play it.

3. I love brussell sprouts.

4. I always spot the spelling and grammatical errors in anything I read. Frustratingly, even my own after I have posted on my blog.

5. I love watching all the animated movies...ie Cars, Megamind, Flushed Away... all those kinds of movies.

6. I really enjoy all the dreaming and planning of crafts and projects, but I rarely follow through. Something I'm hoping to change about myself this year.

7. I have only made pavalova once in my whole life...sad, I know.

There a few blogs I'd like to pass this award onto.

So off you go, drop in and visit these lovely ladies. They always have something interesting to say or share or show.

Have a great day!

Stylish Blogger Award

Early last week I was a recipient of the Stylish Blogger Award.

The very lovely Pam of Bayside Rose fame blessed me by choosing my blog to pass this award onto.
I enjoy reading other peoples posts when they recieve an award because, part of the deal is that they have to tell things about themselves that we in blogland might not already know about them.

I did enjoy reading Pam's seven things that we didn't know about her.
She's so well travelled and such an interesting person with a gorgeous style all of her own. I've loved reading her blog from the moment I found her.
Go on, go and have a sticky beak at her space. You might just love her too.

Seven things you may not know about me...

1. My favourite tv show is MASH.

2. My second favourite tv show is Mad Men. Actually, maybe 1 and 2 should swap places.

3. I don't like playing Barbies. I will do almost anything to get out of it. Bad Mummy!

4. I have lived in 3 of Austalia's capital cities in my lifetime.

5. I am particularly fond of Thai Red Curry.

6. I'm not particularly fond of fruit. I do eat it, but not often enough. Bad, I know. Give me a plate of steamed veges or an awesome salad and I'm a happy lady, but fruit just doesn't do it for me.

7. I never wear lipstick. I did before I had children, but had to stop cos I was kissing them constantly and babies covered in lipstick isn't a particularly good look. I do love a good gloss though.

Now, I'm supposed to pass this on to 15 blogs, but I'm just going to choose 2.

Ladies, you both ooze style and I really enjoy reading your blog posts.
It's up to you what you do with this award, but I'm giving it to you cos you deserve it.

Just Touching Base

This is my first blog post in a week! You may have been wondering where I've been. Well, I've been here, just haven't had any inspiration to post about anything. I've got nothing! I'm totally empty right now. Haven't taken any cool photos. Haven't got much to say.

Actually, I'm struggling with the whole privacy on the web thing. I'm actually a private person, and have realised, derrr, that ANYBODY in the whole world can read what I post on my blog. So, now I'm torn about whether to keep writing my blog and what to actually put up on my blog. I don't need the whole world to know my business. I follow a few blogs where people share their families, their holidays, their ups and downs and comings and goings and I've realised that I don't want to do that. So my dilemma is, what do I put up?

I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'm sure inspiration will come to me. I think I just need a holiday and some rest. I've been ever so tired the past couple of weeks. We'll see.

I do hope you're all enjoying your preparations for Christmas. We are going to have a very quiet Christmas this year. Just the four of us. It will be our first Christmas with just our little family. No stress, no obligation, no expectations. Just us. I'm looking forward to it!

Peace out and catch you soon.

First Of All, Second Of All

First of all I'd like to thank those of you who put your two cents worth in and helped me with the whole blog title, background dilema. Not that it is a dilema, I just get something into my head and focus on it and it becomes my everything until I work it out and move on.
So, I've decided to keep the blog name and just change my background and header picture. I've gone back to the last background I had cos I really do love it, even though it makes the whole screen look a little busy. I just couldn't find anything out there that I really loved.

Second of all, I started the day out on a bit of a high this morning. Doesn't take much really. Blue sky+ sunshine+breeze+cuppa+michael buble singing 'feeling good' = great start to the day. Hello Spring!

'Feeling Good' always makes me feel good. I've found it can pick me up off the floor and twirl me around anytime! It's one of my favourite housework songs. You know, the kind where you stop what your doing every now and then to have a little dance. I can listen to it over and over and over again. I don't mind doing the cleaning while Michael sings to me. It's just one of those songs that puts me in a good mood.
I do love me a bit of big band!
I'm going to see him in concert in February. The night before my birthday! Thank you darling hubby. It will be a fun girls night out. Will tell ya all about it after the event.

Anyhoo, I'm off to do some tidying and cleaning. Now where's my ipod?

I Need Your Help

I need to tell you that I plan to change the name and the look of my blog...again.
I want to find a blog name that is REALLY me. Something I can adopt as truly mine for the years to come.

The problem is that I am having trouble thinking of something.  Some of the names I have come up with are 'The Willow Garden', but that's already taken. 'Camillia Lane', but I've decided that is sounds like a handmade soap company. 'Chocolate Cake', that just doesn't feel right either.

Maybe it could be some of the words that I use a lot like 'Seriously...' or 'I Reckon!' or 'Stop Fighting!!!' or 'No Hitting!' or 'I Need A Cuppa' ...

It has to be just right. A perfect fit.
You have all learned a lot about me over time. You know what my interests are...mostly. You know my personality...mostly.

So, I am asking that you put your thinking caps on and give me some suggestions, keeping in mind some of the things that define Ky. Here's a list of interests if you need some inspiration...
photography, gardens, vintage stuff, european/british things, op shops, sewing, the country, pretty things, funny things, girly things even though that is balanced out with a love of 'boy' things.

You get the general idea. I don't care what you come up with. Just give me something, please! It may not be right for me, but it might inspire me to think of just what I need.

HELP!!!

Shannan's Big Adoption Series

This is Shannan. She writes a blog called Flower Patch Farmgirl. She is one of my favourite bloggers. I really look forward to her posts. This girl can write! This girl has a huge heart for God and for her very special family.

She is loads of fun! She loves people. She loves living. Even when she's not having a good day, she still writes about it in a way that it is fun.

I'm telling you about her today because of a series she is writing that she posts every Tuesday. It's called the Big Adoption Series. It really should be a book! It's about the experiences that her and her husband have been through with the adoption of their three beautiful children.

I encourage you to have a read and maybe you'll even become curious enough to keep on reading as she puts up a new post every Tuesday. It will make you laugh, and it will definately make you cry.

A Blog Award - So Fun!

I am privilaged to recieve this blogger award from one of my favourite blogger friends, Donna of Comin' Home. She's a Mum to five kids, loving wife, grandmother, DIYer, very energetic, positive christian lady. I love her and wish we could hang out, but she lives on the other side of the world. Whenever she reads one of my posts that she really likes, she always leaves the loveliest comments. This woman is a gem and true lady!

So the deal is, I now have to tell you 10 things that you don't know about me and I have to choose 5 of you to pass this award on to. Only 5? That's going to be hard.
If I choose you, then you have to do the same...write a post telling us 10 things about you that we don't know and you have to pass on the award to 5 more people and so it goes....

So here goes...

1. If you haven't already worked it out, I am actually the world's greatest procrastinator. Always have been, even as a kid. It's one of my flaws that I just can't seem to get on top of.

2. Being with people I either don't know or barely know
terrifies me. I'm not good at introducing myself and I'm not good at the art of chit chat.

3. I love to watch something really funny. Having suffered the depression for 20 years and cried a lot of tears, I crave things that make me really laugh. It's my favourite thing to do with my hubby.

4. I am a stubborn, rebellious person who does not like to be told what to do. Ask any of my family or closest friends. They'll just shake their heads in despair.

5. I wanted to be a photographer when I was a teenager. It's one of the dreams I never followed (I'm a bit of a dreamer). I know it's not too late, but I love it as a hobby.

6. I'm a life long vegetarian. Born and raised. I've never eaten anything that had a face, and I never will. Not by choice anyway. The thought of putting dead flesh in my mouth makes me physically ill.

7. The only place I have ever travelled to outside of Australia is the USA. Back in 1985. It was the most fantastic trip and I always vowed I would go back, but never have.

8. I love clomping around the back yard in my gumboots. I really should live on a farm. I even hang the washing while I'm wearing them.

9. I love trees! All different kinds of trees. I feel an inner peace when I am around trees, under trees, looking at trees, sitting in trees, watching the breeze move the leaves.

10. I didn't want to have children until a couple of years after we were married. That biological clock bit hard! I'm suffering for it now though. Just kidding!!! I can't imagine life without my two monkey's. They make my heart explode!!!

So there you go, you now know me a little better.

Ok, so here are the people I am passing this award on to.

Nic at by marie-nicole. I've known Nicole for many years, but only caught up with her in the past year on Facebook. It's been such a blessing to ignite our friendship. She is such a talented designer and creator of her craft. She makes the most beautiful, unique treasures.

Lilian at Mothering Misadventures. This lady can write! She makes me laugh. She makes me think. I feel like I'm reading about myself as a mother sometimes. She is so fluent in her writing style. I wish I could write as well as her.

Georgina at perpetual one. I love this lady dearly. She is one of a handfull of girls that I call my best friends. She is following her dream of having a second hand goods shop. Currently she goes to the markets and sells things out of her 1960's Sunliner caravan. Such a unique, gorgeous idea. This girl is full of brilliant ideas!

Artemis at tales of a jUnkaholic. I've been following Artemis's blog for quite some time now. I really look forward to her posts. She leads a great life. Has a jewellery shop with her hubby, creates things, goes to the markets and picks up the coolest stuff and her photos are always so fantastic!

Becky at Life with Kaishon. Becky found me a few weeks ago and I've been following her ever since. This girl can use a camera!!! I love her photography style and always look forward to new posts.

If you choose to accept this award, then just copy and past the award button to your new post.

Hope you all have a great day. Catch you soon.

Blog, Flowers, Kids

Yes, I know, I know. I've changed the look of my blog...again! I've told you before, I get bored easily. It's fun creating a new blog look. Finding blog backgrounds that I like and then making up a header using a photo I have taken. It's simple, creative fun!

The flowers in the photo below were picked by some very cute, little hands and given to me as a love gift.
I LOVE them because of who gave them to me!
Wanna see who gave them to me???

He did! The short one in the green jumper.
SHE is posing for the photo too. There are several photos with them posing in very silly ways. His are the most comical though. Maybe because he's a boy with too much energy. I swear, his energy levels are directly proportionate to my fatigue levels a lot of the time.
BTW, I'd like to point out that this photo was taken late yesterday afternoon. It was probably about 10-11C. Notice what Miss Angel is wearing? Monkey is wearing a singlet, long sleeve t/shirt and a jumper. She is just wearing a t/shirt! How she never gets sick, I do not know.

Just Rabbiting On Really

I don't have anything tremendously exciting to tell you or talk about today. Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. So... "Hi!"

My baby boy has been particularly cuddly today. It may have something to do with the fact that he has a very swollen lip from a crash he had yesterday. He learnt that there is a very good reason why Mum and Dad tell him not to jump on the bed. It's amazing how a swollen lip can change the appearance of a person. I think it makes him look even cuter and more edible.
I have been loving the extra cuddles I've been getting though.

Thought I'd show you the pink hyacinth I bought today. I bought it because it smells so pretty. Almost as good as the jonquils.

I thought of so many great things to write about today, but I can't seem to grasp any of those thoughts right now. It's so annoying when that happens. I spend nearly 2 hours in the car each day during the week and I often write blogs in my head as I'm driving along. They never stay there long enough for me to actually transform those thoughts into black and white on the computer screen.

I haven't taken any great photos lately either, so there's nothing to show. Haven't been anywhere exciting recently. Haven't done anything exciting recently
Geez, it's all just a bit boring really, isn't it? So sorry about that.

I'll really try to do better in the next couple of days. Hopefully my brain will be working a bit better by then.

Hope you have a great night...cos it's nearly night. I'm going to watch The Goodies later. Bit of a giggle after the younguns are tucked away in bed. There's nothing quite like a bit of British silliness to end the day with.

You MUST Have a Look!

We've all taken photos of our babies while they sleep, but I bet you haven't taken them like this yummy mummy does!

Quick, go have a look! If this isn't pure creativity, then I don't know what is.
I found this via Lori Danelle: maker of things.

*sigh* I wish my babies were still little enough to do this with.

A Fairytale Cottage...Part 2

When I posted the photos about this cute, little cottage yesterday, I did so without reading the article in the New York Times about it and how it came to be. It was one womans dream to have her own Victoriana cottage and she made it happen. She did it all herself. You can read the whole story here.
