Snippets of Sunday - Old Churches Rock!

Note the raindrop smudge towards the top of the church.

I had a little time out by myself today.
It doesn't happen often enough, but what can one do when hubby works a lot and there's no family near by to help with the kids?

On my way to my favourite markets, I stopped at this church on Riversdale Rd and took some photos. I've been wanting to do this for so long now, but I've always got someone else with me.
I braved the icy, cold wind and wandered around the church, taking photos and trying to ignore the discomfort that the cold was causing to my ungloved hands.

It's such a beautiful church with it's large bluestone bricks and gothic style arches and steeple.

I would have loved to go inside, but the divine service was already in progress and I was on a mission to check out the goods at the markets.

Maybe next time.

T&G Tuesday - on Wednesday...oops!

This is Teddy.
Well, it's 'New' Teddy, actually.
'Old' Teddy got lost at the shops a couple of months ago.
I think I was sadder about it than he was.
He was given the old teddy when he was born and he slept with him all the time and took him in the car sometimes too.
So now, it's almost like having old Teddy except the new Teddy is softer because he hasn't be hugged and played with for a few years yet.

Yay for Google and online shopping!!!

The Vintage Shed

Friday saw a friend and I head on down to Tyabb to check out The Vintage Shed.
I'd been wanting to go there for a while now and when Ms G was here in Feb, we almost did, but then worked out that we wouldn't have much time to spend there, so we decided not to tease ourselves by only having a rushed visit.

What a rush it is just walking into this place!

First, we checked out the Vintage Emporium. Clothes! So many clothes! All sorts from different decades.
It was mind boggling. We spent ages browsing through the racks and checking out shoes and accessories. It would be very easy to spend hundreds of dollars here.

We finally moved on to the big shed.
Wow!
So much stuff!!!

This pic is for you, Mum. It's just like Kate's cabinet! This wasn't the only one I saw either. There were a few others, but this one looked the most like Kate's.
I AM inheriting Kate's cabinet, aren't I, Mum???

Anyone need a crystal clock?

How divine is that cabinet in the left of this picture? Just gorgeous!

I'm not usually in the habit of taking photos of old cisterns, but that's my BIL's name.
Made me giggle anyway.

I really would have taken this massive, wood trunk home, but I didn't have the dollars for it.
No matter, I don't really have the room for it either. Although, it would make a fabulous toy box.

I have more photos, but didn't want to bore you too much with them all.
I really wished I'd taken a photo of the retro table and chairs that my friend, Ms N, bought. She was so very excited to find them and at a VERY reasonable price too. In great condition AND her hubby was into it too after she sent him a photo on the phone. So cool that he loves retro like she does!

We had fun! Plain and simple.

Go check it out for yourself if you haven't already. You'll love browsing.

Goodbye Old Car

Half an hour after I put up my last blog post, the towie came, bought my car and took her away.
It's all happened so suddenly and so quickly.

We stood and watched her being tied securely to the back of the truck.
Monkey thought it was all really cool.
Angel surprised me by being very sad about it all. Really, really sad.
She started crying and then couldn't stop.
That in turn made me feel a pang of saddness. A sense of loss.
Well, I did have the old girl for over 5 and a half years. She's the only car my kids have known.
She didn't like me taking a photo of her grief. I don't blame her really.
This one has such a soft heart.
She still doesn't understand why they had to take our car away.
She was almost inconsolable, even after the car had gone. I say almost because I was able to stop the crying, not the sad face, but the crying with a bowl of icecream.

Bye old girl. You've done your job well.

My New Used Car

Waddaya reckon?
I'm just kidding!

That's my old heap of rubbish.
It's currently out the front waiting to be taken away and be used as an organ donor.
That's pretty much all it's good for now.

THIS is my new used car!

A Commodore wagon. So very practical!

It's shiny and quiet and comfortable and smooth and stinky. Very, very stinky. The previous owner is a smoker. How on earth am I going to get that smell out? It actually makes me feel ill while I'm driving.
I wonder if dousing the inside of it with bicarb then vacuuming it all up would help. Hmmmmm...

I know, a new car is no big deal to a lot of people, but it's a big deal to me! I despised my old car for so long and have been putting up with it cos we couldn't afford to get another one, but this one came along in really good nick and for a really good price. And just at the right time too. The old car is just about to kick the bucket.

I am a happy girl!
I love my new car!
