Art, Playgrounds and a Funday

I took this photo on Friday morning while I was enjoying some 'me time' at Chapel St. I really love 'me time'.
I visited my favourite cafe/bakery and indulged in a coffee and almond croissant. Then wondered along the street looking in windows, taking photos and visiting op shops.
At one point I noticed the sound of a car flooring it in some far off street. Then I noticed another almost immediately after and then it dawned on me that the Grand Prix was well and truly underway for the day. The sound  of those F1's, screaming around the circuit, sure do bounce off the buildings. It added a certain atmosphere to this most interesting of streets.
Ya'll know I love the graffiti art, but this one is just too hard to crop to make it good enough to put up on Teacups and Graffiti.

Another fun thing I did last week was meet a good friend and her daughter for a picnic at a park that I neither of us had been to before.
It's such a pretty park and has an awesome, fenced playground.
That's one of the many things I love about Melbourne. There are so many great playgrounds and parks.

Of course, Monkey was non stop the whole time we were there. That kid has too much energy.
I love that about him though!

He LOVED the flying fox. He spent a lot of time walking it back to the start, then climbing on and flying to the end. Over and over and over and over again.

This swing got quite a workout too. He and Miss T had fun on it together. He's even showing off to her in this photo and trying to make her laugh by pulling silly faces.

Moving on to the weekend.
Angel's school had a Funday Sunday. And it was fun. Honestly, I don't think anything gives me so much joy as watching my kids have fun.
She had a go at everything. Even the Cha Cha Cha ride...twice!

He loved the go carts. He thought they were the bees knees, even though they didn't go very fast.
He went on them maybe 4 or 5 times.
Of course, the Giant Slide got a good workout from these two as well.
Talk about wearing the kids out.

This made me giggle. This Vespa belongs to a friend of ours who spent a good part of the day giving the kids rides, along with another bloke who was giving rides on his Harley D.
Angel went on the Vespa with Chris, but Monkey wouldn't, until Dad said he'd take him for a ride. Of course he would go with his Dad! He idolises him.
They ended up going twice!
The chicky babe with the pink hair is another good friend of ours. She is who I went to the Michael Buble concert with. Anyway, Monkey loves her and she loves Monkey.
Her hair isn't always that colour. It was part of the fun in raising money for the school.

Can you tell these two are related???
They both make my heart beat faster!

Liz

During a break in filming A Place in the Sun, Taylor chats with her costar Montgomery Clift on the Paramount lot.

It doesn't matter how you remember her. The point is, we will ALL remember her.
Those eyebrows. The violet coloured eyes. The strong personality. The very essence of femininity. She oozed it!

Her compassion. Her passion.
I believe she loved deeply. I'm not talking about the men she married. I'm talking about her friends. Although, she did love her men and her jewels.

Liz was a little bit special to me. Not only because I watched her movies as a child, but because we shared a birthday. She was 40 years my senior. Every year, I would remember her on February 27.

RIP Liz.
May the glamour live on in your memory.

Just Be...

Remember this photo? Remember that I entered it into Farmgirl Paint's Thrive Project? Well guess what,
Becky picked my photo as one of the two winners! So exciting! She really loves this photo.

I recieved my prize in the mail this morning.
It's inside this very cute pouch and was accompanied by a very sweet note. I love the note Becky!

This is one side of Becky's business card. I love it so much that I'm going to frame it and put it on display.
It's very special to me. I have to admit that I have a blog crush on Farmgirl Paints. I read every single one of her posts and I love them all. I don't always comment, but when I do, she visits me right back and always leaves an encouraging comment. This girl has a big heart for God. Love it! Love her!

And this is what was inside that pouch.
A cuff, made by Becky. She has her own Etsy shop. You can see other cuffs and things that she makes. She's so creative. I love her paintings especially. I think those are commissioned though.

I love those two words. JUST BE.
Just be happy. Just be content. Just be in the moment. Just be kind. Just be thoughtful. Just be a good wife. Just be the best you.
There's so many ways to finish that sentance.

How would you finish that sentance? Let me know in the comments.

Thank you Becky for my 'words on a cuff'. I love it and will wear it with pride. I'm wearing it now.
Melbourne will love it!

Beautiful Beautiful

Just popping in quickly to let you know that I'm having some computer issues. It's fine by me, this week. I've been rather neglectful of my blogs and my blog reading as a result, but I think I really needed the break. There has been no pressure to put up photos, or take photos for that matter. No pressure to comment on other blog posts. I've found it all quite freeing actually. I had become so into the blog world that I HAD to be on the computer a lot, but since I got sick last week and then my pc crashed, well, lets just say that I feel content right now.

I do want to share one thing with you today. It's my latest favourite song. Francesca Battistelli's Beautiful Beautiful. You know, the sort of song that you just put on repeat cos you can't stop listening to it. I hope you listen to this song. It's beautiful. It really is.
If you go here you can read the lyrics while you listen to the song.

Mercy. Grace. Such awesome, powerful words.
From God, they are most powerful!

Shopping and Tea

I needed to spend some time by myself yesterday. Angel was at school and the Monkey was at Kindy. I will admit that I was supposed to do the 1000 steps with some friends, but I REALLY needed to hang by myself and do my thing. I was going to go home and have a kip then clean and tidy the house, but that didn't happen...at all!
I only intended to pop into my favourite shopping centre for a couple of hours, but ended up being there the whole time. I was armed with birthday money and some David Jones giftcards and a desperate need for some new clothes.
I don't normally shop at DJ's and after browsing the racks yesterday I remembered why. All designer brands. Most of it too expensive. Maybe that's why most of the other shoppers that were there yesterday were heaps older than me. They're the ones with the money to burn. I have to say, I felt young shopping in DJ's.

Moving on...
The entrance to DJ's is smack bang inbetween a Louis Vuitton store and a Prada store. I've never walked into the LV store cos their stuff just doesn't appeal to me, but I've been in the Prada store. Gorgeous stuff! Not everything has a price tag on it though, so it's a case of 'if you need to ask the price, you can't afford it'.

I had to snap some shots of the Ralph Lauren windows. These shots turned out badly cos my camera doesn't have a 'no reflection' function on it.;-) These windows were decorated so beautifully. I must wander into that store some time soon to have a browse. I'm sure there must be something in there that I can afford to buy. A hairtie maybe?
You can see how high end this part of the shopping centre is by the other stores that are in the window reflection...Miu Miu, Gucci, Tiffany's...

So sorry about this shot. I should have taken it from the other side of the window.

Anyway, enough ranting about shopping and how the other half live.

I've just made myself this cup of tea. It's from T2, another glorious shop that I could spend lots of money in. Much more affordable of course. So many teas to choose from. So many pretty teacups and teapots. But I digress. I actually wanted to tell you that this particular tea is called Melbourne Breakfast. I really like it! You can also get Sydney Breakfast and Brisbane Breakfast. I'm sure they are nice too, but not being a black tea drinker normally, I really like this one.

Thank you Missa for the gift of different blends for my birthday.
Ya gotta love a gift that you wouldn't normally buy for yourself. Especially a gift that allows you to experience things that you wouldn't normally have experienced.

I shall now end these ramblings and go and get on with my day now that I've enjoyed a cuppa.
Hope YOU have a great day too.

AND I'd like to say a very BIG thank you to each one of you for your kind birthday wishes. They made my day. Every single one of you made my day!

~ Ky x

ps. I'd like to add that shopping with gift cards and birthday money is so much more fun than normal shopping with your own money.
