A Very Jeannie Birthday

I went to a 40th over the weekend, dressed as my version of a genie or Jeannie. That's what that pile of clothes photo was of on my last post. I changed my mind in the last 30 mins of getting ready and didn't wear the green. It just look SO bad.

I don't rock a body like the original Jeannie, hence the head shots only. Lol!

AND I didn't think to have a full top to toe photo taken. I was wearing harem pants. Honest! And killer heels. Honest!

I did swap the killer heels for my sheepskin slippers halfway through. They were SOOO much more comfortable.

Who invented high heels anyway???

The lovely Ms N. She may well kill me if she knows I've put her face on the world wide web.

Yes M & D, I know the top is a little low, but that's cos I'm a genie. It's all about being in character. Of course, blinking like Jeannie did nothing at all when I was dressed up. Angel was hoping I could do magic, but sadly, playing dress ups does not give you super powers.

The birthday cake. I didn't have any cos did you know that if you eat TWO pieces of rocky road, you feel too sick to eat chocolate cake?

Instead of a stripper, we had a belly dancer. She was fun, and kept her clothes on. Belly dancing looks great, but I'm sure it's quite difficult to make it look so easy. She obviously had been doing it for a long time cos she rocked the dance!

The music's pretty cool too.

Btw, that rocky road was made by her and it ROCKED!

When Ms G Was Here

A Garden Tea Party

Here are photos from the Garden Tea Party for Angel. It's amazing how much effort goes into a simple party. It was mostly fun preparing for it. I woke up VERY early that morning and my mind was racing with all the things I still needed to do to get everything ready by that afternoon. I knew I wasn't going to go back to sleep, so I just got up and started doing things. It's rather nice being the only one up in a quiet house, while it's still dark outside. Very peaceful indeed.

So, shall I give you the tour?

Bubbles and nail polish for the young ladies to enjoy during the festivities.

They all loved having their toenails polished. We didn't do fingernails because they aren't allowed to wear it to school, so it was kind of pointless.

Afternoon tea set out for the girls to choose what they'd like to eat.

I bought this at the op shop. It's a bit yuk on the inside and is not salvagable to use for tea. I started out putting roses in it, but it leaks, so I put a pot plant in it instead and it now lives out in the garden.

We HAD to have roses for the tea party. You simply can't have a garden tea party without roses.

Marshmallow teacups. Yum! And so simple to make. They were a big hit!

I wish I had made more paper flowers, but I ran out of paper and time.

Of course, you can't have a birthday party without Cheezels. One on each finger.

Very special 'tea'.

The trampoline was a big hit with the girls. They jumped and twirled and threw around their feather boas. There were feathers EVERYWHERE!!! So colourful and so fun.

I made some bunting with fabric napkins that I sourced from op shops. It was my first time making it. Who knew it was so easy.

I put out Angels dollhouse for the girls to play with too. Those two playing with it in the picture had so much fun and stayed there for ages.

Oh, I must add that my darling hubby threw together this child height table last week after work. It was perfect for them to all sit around. It's WONDERFUL having such a handy husband. Thank you darling!

This was the only game they played...pass the parcel. There wasn't time to play any others as they were having fun eating, trampolining, doll housing, nail polishing and present opening.

She chose this birthday cake for me to make for her. I know you'll love it, but I'm not happy with how it turned out. I was in a rush and didn't do it properly. She loved it though, and that's all that matters!

Peppermint and Steve Madden

Some of you already know what I'm about to tell you. It's old news by now, but better late than never. I've been meaning to blog about this for a couple of weeks, but the holidays took over my life and I never quite got around to it. Well, more like I didn't get around to taking a photo or two to put with this post.

So, without further ado I'd like to let you know that our gorgeous friend, Georgina, has also been given a spot in this quarters Peppermint magazine. Page 65 to be exact.

How about that hey? She's in two magazines at once! It's very exciting!

I'd not heard of Peppermint before last month and now I'm a big fan! It's a gorgeous magazine and I think I shall be buying every issue from this day forth. If you haven't seen it before, it's a little bit like Frankie magazine, but I found it even more appealing.

Now, to the first bargain of the year. Scored at Camberwell Markets. I'm totally in love with those markets! I really am and I'd be very happy if anyone could point me in the direction of any other markets like it in Melbourne.

Anyway, moving right along, I bought these shoes with the very last bit of money in my purse. An unheard of price for a pair of shoes. Can ya guess? Can ya? Can ya????

Steve Madden wedges in good condition for the princely sum of .....................drum roll please.................................50 cents!

True story!

And they rocked the little black dress I wore to church the other day.

Introducing 'perpetual one' to the Nation

 I've been waiting ever so patiently for the January issue of Country Style to hit the stands. I've been waiting patiently for a very special reason. Do you wanna know what that reason is???

Well, my dear friend Georgina of perpetual one and her very cute 1963 Sunliner caravan, Sunny, are one of the feature articles in this issue.

I'm so excited for her! It's a lovely article telling how she has arrived at this particalar place in her dream of having a second hand goods shop.

She's a clever girl that Georgina! She comes up with the best ideas! I'm so proud of her and want to wish her all the best in her venture as a vintage goods stockist.

 Not only is she clever, but she is one of the most darling, gentle and  genuine people you will ever meet.

What you see is what you get with George. You really should visit her at the Peregian Beach markets in 2011.

Just Be

Life gets so busy. It gets stressful. It can very easily unbalance our perspective.

There is a reason that God gave us the Sabbath.

 A special day of the week that we can spend quality time with Him, with our family, with our friends without the worry of work or bills or all things stressful. A day EVERY week where we can regroup.

 He also gave us nature which helps that process. Almost nothing is more relaxing than a sunny afternoon by the water (although I could easily do without the sand). Except maybe being in the green, lush country on a sunny day.

It's the time and a place that puts life back into perspective.

A moment in time when you can just be.

One Hundred and Eighty Degree Turn

My frame of mind has done a complete 180 degree turn since yesterday morning. I'm always amazed at how well the meds work. I feel very normal today. I'm in a great mood! Praise God!!!

I want to thank each of you for your support yesteday too. I was supported via phone, text msge, facebook and comments on that post. I'm just so sorry to know that some of you know exactly how I was feeling because you have this dreadful disease too. I love you all so deeply for caring, even though I didn't want the support at the time. xxxx...

Because of the way I was yesterday morning Monkey boy and I went shopping after Angel had been dropped off at school. I NEEDED this therapy. It helped a little. Thank you Salvos!

I found something that I have been keeping an eye out for. I love it! And it didn't cost very much.

I was using one of those very cheap, small clothes airers as a towel rack until I found something much more my style. I love a nice wood towel rack. The ends of this one remind me of church pews. Now I can't decide whether to leave it as is or paint it white. Danny wants me to leave it. I just can't decide. Typical!

After the op shop stop, we just had to stop at Bunnings. It's a favourite place for both the Monkey boy and I to visit. His latest thing is to push one of the kid size trolleys around and fill it with stuff that I don't need or want. I had to fight him to put back some metal letters and numbers yesterday. Apparently he NEEDED them. Well I didn't, and I'm the one with the money, so they went back on the hangers much to his disgust.

I bought this lavender plant. I love the lavender plants, but I can never seem to keep them alive. I'm going to try really hard this time. Really, really try.

Of course I'm not going to leave it in the plastic pot. Yuck no!

Also bought a big bag of mulch. Love some sugar cane mulch on the garden. I mainly bought it to cover a garden that I am doing at the moment, and yes, when it's done I will post photos. I need to put the mulch on now though cos the kids keep playing in it like it's a sand pit. It's not a sand pit, it's a dirt pit! Too, too messy! It's a garden that is rather close to the back door and I don't want the dirt coming into the house. It's hard enough keeping this place clean and tidy with this lot around.

It's just started raining again, so I think that job will just have to wait until the weather gets better...if it ever gets better.

A Gorgeous Surprise...For Me!

On the way home from dropping Miss Angel at school this morning, the Monkey and I stopped at the post office to check our mail box. I put in the key and opened the little door, reached in and pulled out a couple of envelopes and a small parcel. The parcel was addressed to me. I turned it over to see who the sender was. It was from my friend Nicole. I had a strong suspicion to what was inside. I'm good at guessing surprises. When we got back to the car, I ripped open the packaging ,cos I couldn't wait til we got home, and found this inside.

Such a lovely note.

The excitement was building.

Oooooh, *squeal* a one-of-a-kind, made just for me, Fabric Flower Brooch!

I can't tell you how absolutely delighted I am to recieve this gift from Nic. It's her way of thanking me for my friendship and support. Her kindness, generosity and appreciation has overwhelmed me a little.

I've been following her design business progress for a little while now. I, along with others, have been encouraging her along the way because she has an amazing creative talent. Her designs and creations are so unique and beautiful! There is such creativity in that brain of hers and such skill in her hands. Her work is second-to-none!

An Update

I just thought I'd do a quick update on some of the blogs I've posted in the past.

I am no longer looking for a desk for my computer. I've moved the computer into the bedroom where it sits on the floor, in a corner next to the dresser(so it's hidden) with the monitor on the top of it and the keyboard sits on the step where the bay window is. It's the right height for me to type when I sit on the floor. Most comfy actually.

Regarding my blog look, well you can see for yourself that I've changed it around a bit. I think I'm happy with it now. I just love the photo that I have as my header. No other photo felt right.

The red wool hat is getting quite a work out. I wear it a couple of times a week.

The silver teapot has been used to water my indoor plants, as suggested by my dear friend G and I think I'm going to take up tea drinking, so it may well get used as it was intended.

Oh, the aluminium pot still doesn't have a plant in it. I am currently using it for my clothes pegs until I find a smaller pot for my pegs and then I will get a lovely plant for it.

And last, the crochet practice is going quite well. I'm still just doing row after row with that blue yarn, but my flow is getting better and so is my tension. The next lesson will be in making a square hopefully. Will let you know how I go with that.

My Friends

I love my family and my friends deeply. I am beginning to miss them too. The novelty of living in a different place definately hasn't worn off, but the fun of adventure doesn't diminish my need to be in contact with those that are familiar to me. It's at this time that I have to be intentional about how I spend my time and what I do with my thoughts and attitude. I could very easily slip back a little into that great, big hole. Definately don't want to go there.
Anyhow, I don't want to rabbit on about the depression. I wanted to dedicate this blog entry to the people that have been a part of my life and have influenced me along the way. I miss the people that I have bonded with. The people that call me their friend and think enough of me to share their precious time with. I have to say that over the years I have been incredibly blessed with having these people come into my life. Some of these people are family members, but I also put them into the category of friend.
I wish there was a way for me to express to each person how I feel about them. It's easy to say to them that I love them. I do love them, but I love each person differently. There are so many different types of love and so many different levels of love. I have bonded differently with each person. I love that about the different relationships we form with our friends. Each relationship is unique and special.
I love you my friend and I miss spending time with you. One day, we'll be able to sit and laugh and chat over a cuppa. I really look forward to that time. xx

Ladies Day Out

This week I was fortunate enough to be able to have a day out with a wonderful friend of mine. Without the children, I might add. It was so very therapeutic to be able to hang out together without constantly disciplining, giving commands, refereeing or apologising to strangers.

We met up at Buderim. I love Buderim. Gorgeous boutiques(I bought a new sun hat in one), cafes, book stores and the views are fantastic. It would be so very nice to live up there. We browsed through some op shops and antique stores while up there.

We then decided to go down to Cotton Tree for more browsing and to find somewhere to have lunch. We ended up at a great little cafe called Sister Organic Cafe. The food was just divine! I ate everything on my plate. It thrills me to find a cafe or restaurant that serves really good vegetarian food. There are alot of cafe's out there that have no idea how to make vegetarian food taste great. I am disappointed all too often, but not this time!

I also bought a bottle of water, which is not so unusual. What was unusual was the name of it. I was greatly amused and it is now living in my fridge, refilled.  

After lunch we continued on with our browsing. We visited a few op shops in the area. Op shopping is alot of fun if you like to score a bargain. You never know what treasure you are going to find. I bought quite a few books for the kids and my greatest score of the day were some perfectly good, 100% wool blankets for $4.50 each. I still can't believe I got them so cheap and in such great condition! George thought it was very amusing that I was buying wool blankets on such a very hot day.

It was a truly special ladies day out and I can't wait until we can do it again.
