Impatiently Waiting

I'm getting a little impatient!

It's been well over a month.

 I have 7 or 8 large camellia bushes in my yard and they are chockers with buds.

 I mean absolutely LOADED!

And they've been like that for over a month!

WHEN are they going to bloom???

I'm dying to know what colours they are.

I'm dying to take thousands of photos of my very own camellias.

The Long Road to China

My garden needs some lovin'.

So you know that in the past week and a half we have moved house. It's one of my most unfavourite things to do! All the packing, cleaning, unpacking, purging, cleaning, decision making...it's the decision making that I dislike the most. It actually hurts my brain to have to make decisions about what to keep and what to throw out, give away, where to put everything, which cupboards, which rooms...blah, blah, blah....argh! I'm just sooooo over stuff!!!

I'm completely off track now. What I really wanted to talk about is the garden that comes with living in this house. It's the most garden that I have ever had the pleasure of having to look after. It is, however, in need of some tender loving care. Especially the roses. I've never had roses before. I'm not too sure what to do with them. Maybe you can give me some tried and true advice on how to make them really pretty again.

What do I do?? What do I do?? Help!!!

We are also blessed with some fruit trees.

A giant lemon tree. Very exciting indeed given how expensive they are to buy in the shops.

A cherry tree that needs a bit of a prune.

A crooked apple tree.

One of the not yet ripe apples.

Monkey took it upon himself a couple of days ago to bring over a step ladder and pick some of the lower apples. Lets just say Mummy wasn't too happy about it.

A gigantic gardenia bush.

And some tree ferns next to the big, inground spa which I happened to be sitting in this morning while I had my morning cuppa. Bliss.

Those boards aren't staying either. We just haven't got a cover for it yet, so they are doing the job for now.

So, you can see the garden needs a bit of a prune here and there, but my biggest challenge is the roses. Actually, maybe my biggest challenge is trying to hang the washing on the clothesline.

Kidding! I haven't used it. It's being replaced tomorrow.

I should add that there is a blackberry bush climbing over the top of the fence behind the clothesline too. Yum!

After The Rain Macro

I grabbed my good camera this morning after it had stopped raining to play around with the macro setting and capture water drops on various things in my garden. I've never really played around with macro photography, but I have to say that it was fun and I really like the results.

The climbing tree is about to burst forth with new, green foliage.

I think these delicate little flowers are called snowflakes. I think.

One Hundred and Eighty Degree Turn

My frame of mind has done a complete 180 degree turn since yesterday morning. I'm always amazed at how well the meds work. I feel very normal today. I'm in a great mood! Praise God!!!

I want to thank each of you for your support yesteday too. I was supported via phone, text msge, facebook and comments on that post. I'm just so sorry to know that some of you know exactly how I was feeling because you have this dreadful disease too. I love you all so deeply for caring, even though I didn't want the support at the time. xxxx...

Because of the way I was yesterday morning Monkey boy and I went shopping after Angel had been dropped off at school. I NEEDED this therapy. It helped a little. Thank you Salvos!

I found something that I have been keeping an eye out for. I love it! And it didn't cost very much.

I was using one of those very cheap, small clothes airers as a towel rack until I found something much more my style. I love a nice wood towel rack. The ends of this one remind me of church pews. Now I can't decide whether to leave it as is or paint it white. Danny wants me to leave it. I just can't decide. Typical!

After the op shop stop, we just had to stop at Bunnings. It's a favourite place for both the Monkey boy and I to visit. His latest thing is to push one of the kid size trolleys around and fill it with stuff that I don't need or want. I had to fight him to put back some metal letters and numbers yesterday. Apparently he NEEDED them. Well I didn't, and I'm the one with the money, so they went back on the hangers much to his disgust.

I bought this lavender plant. I love the lavender plants, but I can never seem to keep them alive. I'm going to try really hard this time. Really, really try.

Of course I'm not going to leave it in the plastic pot. Yuck no!

Also bought a big bag of mulch. Love some sugar cane mulch on the garden. I mainly bought it to cover a garden that I am doing at the moment, and yes, when it's done I will post photos. I need to put the mulch on now though cos the kids keep playing in it like it's a sand pit. It's not a sand pit, it's a dirt pit! Too, too messy! It's a garden that is rather close to the back door and I don't want the dirt coming into the house. It's hard enough keeping this place clean and tidy with this lot around.

It's just started raining again, so I think that job will just have to wait until the weather gets better...if it ever gets better.

For Those Who Truly Appreciate Weeds and Moss

I'd never seen sour grass before I moved to Victoria. It started growing in my garden a few months ago. It looks very much like clover, but a completely different flower. It's a very dainty yellow flower. I haven't down any weeding since we moved here and the front garden was almost overcome with sour grass. I am currently spending hours pulling it out.

When my Mum was visiting  last month, she brought some of these flowers inside and made me chew the end of the stalk. It is VERY sour. I might add, she took great delight in seeing the look on my face when I tasted the sourness. She told me that when she was a child, her and her friends loved to chew on the end of the sour grass. Yes, she's a Victorian, even though she has lived in Queensland for the past 36 years. And that, dear friends, is one of her childhood memories. And tha nks to Mum, I learned what this weed is called. It is EVERYWHERE!

I mowed the front lawn yesterday. I hadn't done it all winter. So I was amazed to see that a lot of the lawn is actually that carpety type of moss! It's just beautiful! The front yard doesn't see much sun and so the lawn stays damp and cold all of the time. Perfect conditions for moss.

 I know, I know, you're wondering why I'm blogging about weeds and moss. Well, I think they are pretty and I like to share pretty things.

Now, one more pretty flower for you. My first pansy of the season. Come to think of it, I think pansies are an 'all year round' flower. Ok, so it's the first pansy from the plants I put in the pot a couple of months ago. They grow so sllloooowww in winter.

An Update

I just thought I'd do a quick update on some of the blogs I've posted in the past.

I am no longer looking for a desk for my computer. I've moved the computer into the bedroom where it sits on the floor, in a corner next to the dresser(so it's hidden) with the monitor on the top of it and the keyboard sits on the step where the bay window is. It's the right height for me to type when I sit on the floor. Most comfy actually.

Regarding my blog look, well you can see for yourself that I've changed it around a bit. I think I'm happy with it now. I just love the photo that I have as my header. No other photo felt right.

The red wool hat is getting quite a work out. I wear it a couple of times a week.

The silver teapot has been used to water my indoor plants, as suggested by my dear friend G and I think I'm going to take up tea drinking, so it may well get used as it was intended.

Oh, the aluminium pot still doesn't have a plant in it. I am currently using it for my clothes pegs until I find a smaller pot for my pegs and then I will get a lovely plant for it.

And last, the crochet practice is going quite well. I'm still just doing row after row with that blue yarn, but my flow is getting better and so is my tension. The next lesson will be in making a square hopefully. Will let you know how I go with that.

Thriving Cyclamen

Just wanted to show you my vintage plant pot. Mum gave it to me last year. It was her mothers. I love it! I struggled to find somewhere to put it, but since we have moved it looks very much at home in this old house.

 I bought a lovely, bright pink cyclamen to put in it. I'm not very good at keeping cyclamen flowers alive, but the plant seems to be thriving in this filtered light position in the dining room. I have also learned that they don't like to be wet, so a light watering once a week seems to be doing the trick so far.

I think a home needs inside plants. It just adds that little something. I have another spot in the house that needs a pretty pot with a plant in it. I will have to keep my eye out on my treasure hunting trips for just such a pot.
