Sunday Funday

I still have trouble with the fact that I am a school mum. Actually, I have a little trouble with the fact that I am a grown up, with children. But that's another subject altogether.  Anyway, yesterday we went to the school funday. It was fun too! The kids had a ball and Baby and I took so much pleasure in watching them enjoy themselves. It really is the small things that make being a parent worthwhile. Watching them sit still while they have their little faces painted. The laughter when they go sliding down the giant slide. The joy and smiles when riding the merry- go- round. And the togetherness of sitting on the grass eating hot chips and drinking soft drink.

We had a really fun day together, as a family. I cherish these days.

My Friends

I love my family and my friends deeply. I am beginning to miss them too. The novelty of living in a different place definately hasn't worn off, but the fun of adventure doesn't diminish my need to be in contact with those that are familiar to me. It's at this time that I have to be intentional about how I spend my time and what I do with my thoughts and attitude. I could very easily slip back a little into that great, big hole. Definately don't want to go there.
Anyhow, I don't want to rabbit on about the depression. I wanted to dedicate this blog entry to the people that have been a part of my life and have influenced me along the way. I miss the people that I have bonded with. The people that call me their friend and think enough of me to share their precious time with. I have to say that over the years I have been incredibly blessed with having these people come into my life. Some of these people are family members, but I also put them into the category of friend.
I wish there was a way for me to express to each person how I feel about them. It's easy to say to them that I love them. I do love them, but I love each person differently. There are so many different types of love and so many different levels of love. I have bonded differently with each person. I love that about the different relationships we form with our friends. Each relationship is unique and special.
I love you my friend and I miss spending time with you. One day, we'll be able to sit and laugh and chat over a cuppa. I really look forward to that time. xx

I'm Cold

It's a rather cold, rainy day in ol' Melbourne town. I'm getting a glimpse of how bitterly cold the winter will be. Today is equivalent to a cold winter's day in Brisbane and it's only just autumn. My toes are cold. My legs are cold. My hands are cold. Even my nose is cold...no big nose jokes please.
It's about time to hit the stores and buy the family some really warm clothes. None of us have the kind of clothes that are needed to keep warm in this cold climate. I'm sooo going to hate shopping for new clothes and shoes...not!
Anyway, I was warned. Still, I do not miss the sticky, sweaty humidity. Not in the least.

My Birthday

The 27th of February is a special day for me. It marks the day that I was born. So, I have celebrated another birthday this past Saturday. My first here in Melbourne. It started off very slowly...just the way I like it. I had a little sleep in, which was very nice. There were plans to go to church, but they were waylaid by Monkey needing a sleep, so I was picked to stay home with him and of course I went back to bed too.

By mid afternoon I was ready for another kip, so off to bed I went.

Sitting outside, having a cuppa with my Baby, later that day, he suggested we go for a drive and end up somewhere for some dinner. I thought that was a wonderful idea. We all got ready and jumped in the car. Well, we ended up at the St Kilda Bath House where there is a wonderful restaurant called Soul Mama. It was all planned of course because there were people waiting for us at our table. Old friends that I have not seen in 6 years! I was so excited to see them and we had a marvelous time catching up over REALLY good vegetarian food. All the food at Soul Mama is vegetarian. It's a global cafe, so you can experience their fine fare in different parts of the world. None of us could finish our meals as they are such large servings. I am SO going back there!

Coffee and dessert was consumed elsewhere. Some cute little chocolate cafe in one of the busy streets in St Kilda. I forgot to see what it was called. The coffee was divine and we all shared churros with pots of melted dark, milk and white chocolate. Yum!!! Such a good night! I had a very good birthday! My Baby came through again. He always makes me feel very special on my birthday...as do all my friends and family. Lots of skyping, telephone calls, texting and facebook messages. Love it!

The Adventure Has Begun

So here I am, sitting in my new, old house in Melbourne, feeling rather chilled as it is quite a cool day today. It's cool like May weather in Queensland. The adventure has well and truly begun. It began with a two day trip in the car with the kids, by myself. I survived! They behaved very well considering they were stuck in car seats for two days straight. I was very proud of them.
We have been here for a week now and we are settling into life here in this big city. I am still unpacking and should really be putting things away now, but I thought I would update my blog instead. The unpacking can wait a few more minutes.
I love our little house here. It is a renovated 1960's home. Quite small in comparison to our last home, but that's ok. There's a large shed out the back to store things that I can't fit in. I rather like not having room for too much stuff.
Angel has started school and has settled in very quickly. She's just that kind of child. Monkey loves the backyard as there is a concrete path all the way from the shed to the back patio that he zooms down on his scooter.
Once I have finished unpacking and the house is in order I will be free to start exploring Melbourne with Monkey in tow. What I have seen so far I really do like. I still haven't gone out for a coffee yet, so that will be number one on the list. Hopefully next week the exploring will begin. I will keep you up to date. Meanwhile, have a lovely day!
