Jonquil Joy

I've been cooking up a storm and cleaning and tidying the house today...busy little beaver that I am. And every time I walk from the kitchen to the rest of the house via our shortest of short hallways, I am pleasantly enveloped in the scent of jonquils. I absolutely, positively luurve the smell of jonquils! It's such a happy fragrance! You can not help but stop for a split second to enjoy them. They are such a happy, little flower!
Every week when I do the grocery shopping I see them in the flower stand and have been tempted to get some, but I never do. So, yesterday, I treated myself and I'm not regretting it in the slightest! I might even treat myself again next week.
I thought I would share them with you. I'm sorry that you can't smell them, but you can just pretend that you can.
Have a happy weekend and if you get the chance, grab yourself, or someone that you love, some jonquils. It will put a smile on your face, that's for sure!

Pancakes A La Lindz

A few of my really good recipes have been given to me by my sister. They are easy, but oh so good. This pancake recipe is another of my favourites...or should I say, another of my family's favourites. I've started making these most Sunday mornings. It's quite a treat for the kids cos it's the only time they are allowed to have icecream for brekky.
They are by far the fluffiest, lightest pancakes I've ever had. They turn out the same every single time too. I love them with sliced banana, maple syrup and cream...icecream too if I'm in the mood for it.
So, do you want the recipe? Do ya? Do ya?

Ok, ok! No need to yell at me. It goes a little something like this...

Mix together 2 egg yolks, 1 cup of sifted SR flour, 3/4 cup of milk and 1/2 tsp sugar.
Beat  2 egg whites until stiff (just like you would if you were making meringue or pavlova).
Fold the egg whites into the pancake batter (I'm assuming you know what it means to 'fold' when it comes to cooking).
Then just spoon the mixture into a heated pan and cook till golden on either side.

This mixture will give you about 6 small pancakes, so just double or triple the mixture if you have a few people to feed.
I have even made these as a fun dinner on a Friday night. The kids thought they had hit the dinner jackpot when I started making these. No veges or salad. Just pancakes, maple syrup and icecream.
Hope your family enjoys them as much as mine does.
Thanks Sis for sharing!

Photos By Monkey

I love to look at photos. I sometimes sit down at the computer and look through photos of when the kids were younger, or when we did something fun etc, etc. Well, thrown in with all the 'good' photos that adults have taken are a few that the Monkey has taken when he has been able to get his cute, chubby little hands on my camera (that isn't really hard to do seeing as I keep it in my handbag). So, I thought I'd share some with you.
A picture tells the whole story. A little boy, sitting in a shopping trolley has found mum's camera in her handbag.
Mum is clearly shopping for shoes while said little boy is in his shopping trolley jail. It keeps him quiet and I know where he is...that's the bonus.

Proof that Mum is looking at shoes.

Mum is looking at bags while the Angel lounges with boredom.

Keeping occupied while waiting for the show to start.

Self portrait.

Sister loves having her photo taken too.

Dad playing the bass guitar in church.

He just had to take a photo of the ceiling fan at kindy. He's always had a facination with things that go round and round...still does.

Mum took this one of the Monkey trying to get the camera back. He wasn't very happy that I wouldn't give it back to him. He really loves taking photos.

There would be heaps more, but I have deleted most of them...just too bizarro!

Just A Little Whinge

Some days I just want to find a quiet little corner and hide there, totally undisturbed, for a few long hours. I am the full time carer of one very energetic, often disobedient, problem solving(which is a problem in itself), curious, very loud, mess making three year old boy. I am also full time carer (when she is not at school) to a very talkative(I swear she could talk under water), imaginative, refuses to eat fruit, sometimes disobedient, impatient, but loving five year old girl.

This mothering gig is really hard work! It does my head in so often. I'm not a very patient person and have a bad temper to boot. Throw in being tired often and a moody temperament and you get how this picture can be sometimes. I'm learning to count to ten, or just throw my hands up in the air, go get the wipes and clean up the mess without saying a word. There is not as much yelling as there used to be(from me that is). Hmmm, I'm painting quite the negative picture here, aren't I? I shall stop that right now!

I am in love with my children. I often just watch them doing whatever they do. Listen to their conversation between each other from another room and giggle to myself cos it's so funny. I laugh to myself when Monkey is getting into trouble and tries to distract the adult by raising his eyebrows up and down or winking at them. It's very hard to hold a straight face with him sometimes. Like the time I caught him chucking stuff out of the second draw in the kitchen onto the floor, I said " My goodness mate, that's so naughty!" He said without looking at me or stopping, "Yes it is". I just had to walk away cos I started giggling. His response was so honest and so funny the way he said it. He's such a clown. I will add that he had to put everything back into the draw and with a little threat from the wooden spoon was happy to oblige. Angel is a lot easier to discipline. She can be just as naughty, but she is older and understands consequences a lot better.

Am I being more positive now? I do love them, and I do love being their mum. I just need a little down time every now and then. Down time without interruption.

If Everyone Cared

If everyone cared and nobody cried,
If everyone loved and nobody lied,
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride,
We'd see the day that nobody died.

Singing, a-men, I, I'm alive.

I was driving home from the school pick up this afternoon, listening to some Nickelback. Yes, I like Nickelback. Anyway, I was listening to this song and thinking about the music video for it. They played it in church a few weeks ago, so it's fresh in my memory (sort of). I don't think about the video clip every time I hear this song, but I think I should. I would then be reminded to do something to help someone else instead of always just thinking that I should do something to help someone else. And that's what I thought about as I drove along listening to it.
It's time I made a sacrifice of either my time or money, or both, to make someone elses life a little easier, a little less painful. There's too much pain in this world and it's time I did something to take away a teensy, little bit of it. Time for me to stop being selfish. It's so easy to be selfish in this world. We are all so busy and time poor. Always have so many bills to pay and things to buy that we think we need.
As I type this I'm feeling like such a hypocrite. That will be my prayer for myself over the next few days, to stop being selfish and sacrifice either time or money or both to help. We are supposed to become like Jesus and right now, that's how I think I should be changing to become more like Him. So, I'm sharing this music video with you because it always strikes a chord in me and maybe it will in you too.

Sing it Chad!  Nickelback - If Everyone Cared

If you are someone who helps to ease someone elses life, let me know. If you have an idea how I can help, let me know.
